This bothered him and he questioned the Lord. " Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you would walk all the way with me, but during the most troublesome times of my life there was only one set of footprints. I don't understand why, when I needed you most, you deserted me."
The Lord replied, " My precious child, I love you and would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, those were the times when I carried you in my arms."
I came across this story many years ago, when I had a similar question to ask the Lord.
I have read this story. I really wonder if these are tales to boost our morales and nothing else! I wonder if the Supreme Power really takes care of me through tough times.
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful story, Rama, and of course I have heard it before, but it is nice to be reminded of it again!
ReplyDeleteNice one! I have heard this before!
ReplyDeleteYes just like me you all must have come across this story. Rachana, it is true when we are really going through some great trauma, some higher power is guiding us and makes us overcome it. Because, we are so frustrated at that time, that we fail to see the subtle nudge that has made us cross the bridge of calamity. Of course these tales are there to make us ponder over such things.
ReplyDeleteI have read this one. It is so beautiful. When I look back and identify some of my tough times, i realize there was some one up there guiding me all through out.
ReplyDeleteWOW.....Beautiful Story..RAMA. The best post I have read in recent days....very nice. Congratulations for posting this wondeful story.
ReplyDeleteThanks Aparna, You are very right. I am so glad to hear that all of us have some time or other read this story and have been able to relate to it. It feels so good to know we all think alike and are drawn towards same thinks in life.
ReplyDeleteHi rama ,this was a nice one ,i haven't heard this before though:).And yes it is considered that God is always there with us everytime, but somehow we seem not to notice that when we are in trouble.
ReplyDeleteYes I got this as a forward email. Loved it !
ReplyDeleteBut in practicality, when the times are bad we tend to blame HIM rather trusting HIM that HE gives us only that much pain that we can handle !
I have read this but I don't believe in it and i detest people calling that supreme power a him, it can be a her for all you know
ReplyDeletep.s personal opinion don't mean to offend
HE? SHE? OR IT? I am sure just the belief would carry us through... Aham Brahmasmi!
ReplyDeleteYes, this is my favorite story too.. when my son had a question to God, my mother told him this story...finally it is up to each one of us to feel God's presence.. just because the butter in the milk is not visible, it doesnt mean it doesnt exist in the milk.. milk has to be made in to curds and then churned for us to see the butter!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this post and wish you a happy Diwali too Rama!
