Cats " Memory"

Cats Memory is one of the best known songs of a stage musicals.
Memory, is in fact, the most popular songs of the Cats, a record setting  musical composed by Andrew Llyod Webber.
Interestingly. the lyrics written by Cats director Trevor Nunn were based on two poems by T.S. Elliot : Preludes and Rhapsody On A Windy Night. As you may already know, Cats was based on a collection of T.S. Elliot's  poems : Old Possum's Book Of Practical Cats.
Memory is performed by Grizabella, a former "Glamour Cat". Through this beautiful song, Grizabella sadly recalls the good times of the past. At the same time she expresses her longing for a better future.
The melody is haunting, evocative and deeply nostalgic.
One can never get bored of listening to this song  again and again. One has to just listen to the lines : Touch me, it's so easy to leave  me .......
These lines can make one cry. This song, is without doubt, the highest point of this beloved musical.
Elaine page ( the original Grizabella) made this song wildly popular. Many other famous singers have also attempted to sing this song. But only Elaine Page and Barbara Streisand have done full justice to this song.
Listen to this song by Barbara Streisand ; just scroll down.

  3. Rama, I really can't match your ear for music, esp. English music and the lirics. I used to listen to 80s when I was also interested in Golden Treasure collection including poetic works of Shelly, Wordsworth, et.al(when I tried some poetry myself.. without great success.

Played the song of Barbara 'Sthrei, sand and it was good. I am reminded of some old tamil songs.. like 'Androru naal ithae nilavil..!

Well, life is made of bundle's of memories..keep touching(don't leave) those happy ones!

    Creativity thy name is poetry!
