The Grand Canyon As Seen Around 11 am - 3.30 pm

This is time the Grand Canyon looks really washed out, with the sun literally burning down on everything and everybody: not a very good time to photograph its beauty, yet, one cannot come away without capturing, so here are some pictures, they look quite good:

Wearing a wide brim hat did make me feel very silly, but I stopped worrying about it, as one of the great things about the Grand Canyon is that absolutely everyone there is a tourist and they all look pretty silly !

Gazing at the beautiful views of the canyon from the various vista points is the activity, one never gets tired of despite the heat.

And one never tires of taking pictures: strangely sometimes one feels that everything looks the same, and yet the next moment, one feels it looks so different

Wow! look at the beautiful clouds

We were there in the month of August 2010, and it was very, very hot. But the evenings were so pleasant and the views everywhere were really beautiful. The buses are plenty, and one can hop in and hop out from various color coded buses to see specific points. There are buses from early morning till evening, to catch the sunrise and the sunsets. We had to opt for the hot morning views and came back again for the evening sunset.

The sizzling afternoon summer

At the background is the Temple of Shiva

See  how the afternoon rays paint the rocks: whatever the time of the day, the sun always plays the most important role, in making things look exceptionally beautiful, and the lucky ones capture it...
Did you enjoy the trip to the Grand Canyon with me through these photographs?

    1. So many people living very close to the Grand Canyon too have not seen it. It just like living in India and not seeing the Tajmahal, Qutab Minar etc. In fact, I have not yet seen Kashmir, it seems to elude us.

  3. Hello, Thanks for the good pics. I and C were also lucky to be there in 2009.
But the pics were not good as you have ,they were hazy.

I was awed after seeing in real and being there in the Grand Canyon , that I have seen before in Western films only. It was splendorous and a worthy trip along with the helicopter ride into the canyon.
    Sure you enjoyed too.

  9. No Nona, it is just the change of light during the whole time we spent there. The pictures of sunset are so different, and more beautiful then the ones taken in the time mentioned.I will post some of the prettier ones of the sunset at the GC. soon. It suddenly threatened to rain in the evening, but luckily it never rained.
