Valentine's Day

I love you
Blah, blah, blah,
Hearts and flowers
Yadda yadda yadda
cupid, etc.

For us it is just like any other day. I get to see some good romantic movies on the TV, and see some young people walking holding hands, as if this is their last chance to declare their love for each other.
Everywhere you are forced to see advertisements urging people to buy diamonds, for their loved ones.

There was a very funny ad. where a young man was worried as to what he should buy for his beloved for the Valentine's day, saying should he buy her a phool (flower) for which his friend says in which era is he-- in Mugulai-azam's era or what, for he would be a fool to present a phool (flower) in the present era. He should buy her diamond ring which is available on sale....

For us this funny quote is more apt:

We sleep in separate rooms, we have dinner apart, we take separate vacations. We're doing everything we can to keep our marriage together. Rodney Dangerfield.
What do you say?

  7. Happy Valentine Day. I hope you watched extra romantic movies. I hate those ads that want men to buy diamond. Love is priceless.

  8. I loved that last quote by Rodney. I have views similar to you. Love is celebrated by being there for each other, by helping raise the kids, by supporting career decisions, by loving you for what you are. I don't think a diamond or a candle-lit dinner could ever give the feeling of true love if the feeling is missing in the first place. Why should one pay through their nose to exhibit love when love can be exhibited through gestures on absolutely anyday of the year. The entire commercial angle puts me off, the bombardment of ads and articles is gross.

  13. Happy Valentine's day. That quote is so funny.

For us, we make an extra effort to celebrate it some years and then there are some, where its just another day.

  14. Me and husband don't do anything on V-day too...but we do try to give gifts, even if it is just a painting or a greeting card...actually i think V-day is a big hype n unnecessary...u don't need one particular day to show ur love for a loved one when you have a lifetime to do it...thanks for your visit to my blog...cheers!
