If A Dog Were Your Teacher : Author Unknown

our latest dogs: Loki and Bumbilli

If a dog were your teacher
These are some of the lessons you might learn...

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face
to be pure ecstasy

When it's in your best interest
practice obedience

                                waiting for the their biscuits
Been asked to stay!
                             Been asked to hold

Let others know when they've invaded your territory
Take naps and stretch before rising
Run romp and play daily

watch your home: playing the guard duty

Plan something naughty with your best buddy

Then go about doing them, the other one looks on innocently, knowing that he is the one who going to get the beating
watch the world go by from the terrace
Play time
While you drink water, I can coolly rest my chin on your soft back
My Ball (our previous dog Toffee)
My tennis ball, I won't drop it from my mouth
( our first dog Cookie)

Thrive on attention and let people touch you

Avoid biting, when a simple growl will do
On warm days stop to lie on your back on the grass

On hot days drink lots of water and lay under a shady tree

Afternoon nap under the shade of the Cashew tree

When you're happy dance around and wag your entire body

No matter how often you're scolded
don't buy into the guilt thing and pout
run right back and make friends, even if you are locked out. Try out all the tricks: they would surely fall for you...

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk

Eat with gusto and enthusiasm
Stop when you have had enough
Be loyal
Never pretend to be something you're not

If what you want lies buried
dig until you find it
When someone is having a bad day
be silent .....

...sit close by.

...and nuzzle
Do you have a dog/ dogs?
What did they teach you?
Though having dogs can be quite a handful, but somewhere deep within us they manage to make a beautiful space, which nothing on this earth can ever replace.
When people say, that "our dogs are lucky to have us",
we say "we are the ones who are lucky to have had the good fortune of not only having had two dogs (they died), but continue to have two more equally lovable dogs now, who are both hale and hearty".
To our darlings Cookie, Toffee (still living very much in our hearts), Loki and Bumbillli!!!!

    1. Sandhya, even people who don't have the means to keep a dog or may not like to keep one, would always love other people's dog. Dogs are so lovable. Thanks Sandhya. I really loved this short inspiring story and added a few lines here and there to suit the pictures. I have so many pictures of these two but not many of our previous dogs,Ii feel quite bad about it.

  3. Yes the pictures and the story both match each other. When i was reading this cute story these pictures automatically came into my mind, though I added a few lines here and there too.
I truly believe that stories sound and look so much better with relevant pictures, and you can't blame me, as I have so many pictures of these two naughty Labs.
    Thanks.

  7. Even I am afraid of street dogs, whenever we take our dogs for walks we have to carry a stick along with us to scare the street dogs, they behave in unpredictable manner most of the time.
    Thanks KP.

  9. So sweet! I always yearned to own a pet dog. Mom even promised me one, once she retires. But of course, it makes no sense to have one if I have to leave it behind all alone and go to work. You are lucky you have somebody at home to care for them.
It must be a joyous experience to see their honest brown eyes at the end of the day.
Nice names, any specific reference to their names?

  11. There's so much to learn indeed, just loved the way you have put it down Rama. I have never had a pet dog but have seen the way they influence their owners in a positive way among friends and neighbors. But having been bitten by a stray dog, I like to keep a safe distance from dogs.

    1. It is true, even I am afraid of stray dogs, one never knows when they might suddenly come running after you and bite, even with other people's dogs one must be careful for all dogs do not like to be petted. Thanks Reshma.

    1. For dog lovers anything to do with dogs and their cute pictures always brings out the 'awww' expression. They do things so innocently, and sometimes they also look very knowingly innocent to break or hearts.
      How is Coco doing?

    2. Coco is doing well. He has got a huge wart on one of his legs for which some treatment is going on to take it out without surgery. He is his usual sunny self, a real joy :).

  17. "Try out all the tricks: they would surely fall for you." Ha, ha, I felt so great reading this article, rama! It is so true! I have myself a dog, Caro, and he does all these things. Our previous dogs, Rocky, and then Cara, have been the same. Dogs are so faithful and they make your life better!..
